Greek food is always flavoured using the rich variety of herbs and spices available in the country. The spicing tends to be quite mild and aromatic – there are few very hot dishes in Greek cuisine. Greek food is still to this day, a unique amalgamation of fresh, seasonal ingredients and a generous blend of these herbs and spices. Greek food is not spicy; they use most of the same spices you use at home. Greek food is not all peaches and cream. It can be healthy – plenty of salads and olive oil – but it can be rather boring too.

Greek food is not spicy. If you like spicy food and can’t survive without it bring a bottle of your favorite hot sauce. Greek food is just as dynamic as any cuisine and as such is susceptible to food trends. Greek food is steeped in tradition. Food, for the ancient Greeks, had religious and philosophical meaning.

Greek food is delicious. There’s a lot of variety, a lot of good flavors, and lots of cheese and meat. Greek food is made to go with Greek wines. However, Greek wines will be a good match for food from many parts of the world. Greek food is centered on the use and taste of the freshest produce available. Although it is possible to make Greek dishes in America, the taste cannot compare with the fresh red tomatoes sprinkled with oregano that is commonly found in Greece.

Stay tuned for some great Greek cookbooks!
